Re-Living Thing

September 9th, 2009

Sometimes we get so excited about music that we can’t help but wish we could lay on the couch all day and just listen.  That’s how we feel right about now.  Peter Bjorn and John, a 10-year-old indie rock band hailing from Stockholm, Sweden are familiar to you even if you don’t know it.   You see, their work has been sampled by Kanye West on “Young Folks”, and by Drake, on “Let’s Call It Off”, both of which are refreshingly new incarnations of hip-hop samples.  Instead of heavily-beated, almost unrecognizable cuts, they preserve much of the original integrity of the music, resulting in a true blend of genres.  Well now you have a whole album of collaborations at your disposal, thanks to mixtape/celebrity DJ Mick Boogie.  Re-Living Thing is a mixtape that takes Peter Bjorn and John’s most recent album Living Thing and adds artists like Naledge, Wale and Talib Kweli, and production by 6th Sense, the Kickdrums, Mick Boogie and more.  The result? 13 tracks for your listening pleasure, released yesterday and already being hailed as nothing short of genius.  Visit Mick Boogie’s site to download.
