The Green Bracelet
September 30th, 2008
It’s hard to feel responsible with bling all over your body. But like Kanye said, “its in a black person’s soul to rock that gold . . . How could something so wrong make me feel so right?” Well, we found something that is not at all wrong, but to our delight, fabulously right. Kimora and Russell, though essentially personifying excess, access and ridiculous wealth, are committed to responsible blinging and want you to be too. The Green Bracelet, made of green malachite beads topped off with a conflict-free rough diamond, is unisex, and can easily be adjusted for wrist sizes ranging from dainty to destructive. Its proceeds benefit the Diamond Empowerment Fund, which supports education initiatives on the continent in an effort to empower the youth of Africa. It is part of the larger Green Initiative Collection, though we must be honest and say that it’s the only piece we’d actually wear, with the exception of the World Dog Tag (and, more importantly, 50% of its proceeds go to charity, while the amount varies for other items). The Green Bracelet was all the rage before last year’s Academy Awards in the celebrity set, but we still rock it, (a) because its nice, and (b) because while celebrity trends may be fleeting, our commitment to our people never is.
