Once upon a time there was a girl with piles and piles of kinky curls and no idea what to do with them.  Then she found Ouidad, her hair met its match and her swagger blew off the charts.  Curly and kinky West-Coast gals rejoice! Ouidad, the self-professed “Queen of Curl” has opened an LA outpost of her hard-to-book New York City salon.  We can’t get enough of her Deep Treatment, which makes our hair silky soft, enviably elastic, and ridiculously shiny, and we’re addicted to the Curl Quencher Gel, which defines our curls in ways previously unseen.  We’re also obsessed with the carve and slice haircut, which makes our hair fall perfectly, maximizing the texture we were born with.  So sure, we were skeptical at first: we’re not exactly used to sitting in salons with such diverse clientele, but the great thing is that Ouidad and her team truly are experts on all types of wavy, curly, kinky and nappy hair.  That being said, feel free to request a stylist who you think will understand your needs better if you want.   A couple tips: an appointment with Ouidad herself may break the bank, but its not necessary-we haven’t seen a Ouidad stylist that we didn’t like.  Also, if you have two working hands and a sit-down dryer at home, skip the super expensive in-salon Deep Treatment, buy a bottle and do it yourself.
