K’orus Wine
October 10th, 2008
So K’orus kind of sounds like ‘for us’. And being that Kedar Massenburg, a music industry executive credited with coining the term ‘neo-soul’ started producing K’orus in response to what he saw as blatant dismissal of African-American wine consumers by established brands, we’re trying not to mentally add ‘by us’ at the end and associate the brand with FUBU. At any rate, we do appreciate Massenburg’s effort to bring awareness and enjoyment of wine to the African-American masses with his collaboration with a French winery to create this line that tastes better than other lower-priced wines. K’orus keeps its simple with only three varieties: Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Though other varieties are said to be on the way, they believe that these three are the core of wine consumption, and a good starting point for those of you who aren’t too well versed in the particulars of wine (we drink it abundantly on occasion too, but we don’t think that counts). The K’orus website has simple taste descriptions, as well as food and wine pairings and recipes that incorporate its product, like wine-braised short ribs. That’s what we call multi-tasking. Visit K’orus for more information. We found a great deal on six bottles here.
