Cassette Tote

October 3rd, 2008

Why does your reusable shopping bag– you know, the one you’re not supposed to throw in the garbage– have to look like trash?  Saving the environment and being fashionable don’t have to be mutually exclusive.  You’re so dope girl (or boy) fresh. Happily, now your grocery bag can be too.  So what if carting goodies to and fro wasn’t the original intention of this bag?  You’re a trendsetter, young Buppie, and set trends you will do.  We love this tote because its reminds us of those days before the iPod, before the Discman, and certainly before the disappearance of 80’s track suits.  We remember what it was like to let your tape rock till your tape pop, then pull it out, use your pinky to fix it, and get back to business. We also remember what it was like to double bag our groceries in paper and plastic without dealing with the sideways looks of other shoppers.  This Fred Flare cassette tote is made with lightweight plastic that may not be the most durable, but at less than the price of a CD, we’ll take it.  The handles are designed to look like unraveling tape, but to make ours a little more authentic, we used a sharpie to scribble on the name of one of our favorite old-school tapes.  Welcome to the hip-hop green movement.  Available at Fred Flare.
