Bed & Beverage

November 18th, 2008

Bed. Breakfast.  Such an ordinary and unexciting pairing.  Especially when one has the option to wake up, saunter outside and feast on fresh beignets and awe-inspiring coffee at Café du Monde.  Or any other corner in New Orleans, for that matter.  The genius of Royal Street Inn is that its still a B&B.  Except that this time, the second B stands for beverage.  Located in the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood of New Orleans, Royal Street Inn & The R Bar combines lush rooms with lush activities—the latter existing mainly at the old-school bar in the lobby.  Their goal is to give you a luxurious New Orleans experience that is a bit off the beaten path, but as memorable as any other stay in the city.  There are five rooms, our favorite being La Sirena suite, an attic apartment with an open plan bathroom that Royal Street Inn calls “freaky and interesting at the same time”.  What we love the most about this bed & beverage is the great tips you’ll receive from the other bar patrons: you’ll find yourself eating at the best local restaurants the other tourists don’t know about and seeing sights that aren’t in your guidebook.  On Fridays you’ll find a traditional crawfish boil, and upon check-in, two free cocktails.  When you check-out, you’ll find your wallet pleasantly surprised: rooms start at just $75.  And if you get tired of the down-home feel, don’t worry—you’ll be just steps away from the debauchery of the French Quarter.  Visit Royal Street Inn & The R Bar’s site for more information.
