Africa After Dark

September 17th, 2008

We love helping others, and we love to party, and when we can do both at once, we’re overjoyed.  When we can do both at once while listening to the sounds of DJ Rich Medina, we’re ecstatic.  And when we can do both at once while listening to the sounds of DJ Rich Medina and helping realize Africa’s true potential, we think that its possible for us to die happy people at any given moment.  Africa After Dark is the after-party to All for Africa’s Knock Out Poverty event, which is kind of a big deal.  It goes down September 23rd at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, and includes boxing matches, musical performances, and attendance by African heads of state as well as several influential Americans from music, movies and sports (including, allegedly, the cast of The Wire).  If you have the dough and the desire to support the Knock Out Poverty event, more power to you.  If you haven’t BupGraded your bank account to that level (yet), Africa After Dark, may be more your speed.  It starts at 8pm, and includes viewing of some of the Knock Out Poverty events.  However, the party gets started with an open bar, sampling of African food, and live drummers to accompany Rich Medina’s soundtrack.  By the end of the night, you will have had a great time, and an African will be one step closer to creating a sustainable economic opportunity.  Tickets, $85 (after party only), available via All for Africa (Photo Credit)
